About Leigh Anne Spraetz, LPC, NCC

mainpageIcons_leighann2140pxLeigh Anne Spraetz, a licensed professional counselor and independent college and career counselor, has had a successful private college and career practice for over 18 years. She has counseled well over 650 students in the college admission process and has toured over 600 colleges while serving as President of Academic Futures, Inc.

She originally worked in the therapeutic educational consulting field, placing students who were struggling in therapeutic wilderness programs, treatment programs or therapeutic boarding schools. As her students completed their programs, they needed specialized guidance in choosing the right college fit. She added college and career counseling to her practice to accommodate these students, and within five years focused in this area full time.

“And most importantly of all, find your passion. It is absolutely essential you find away to maintain the same level of satisfaction from your work as you do from your free time. To live for the weekend is, after all, to waste away 71.43% of your life.”  – Beau Taplin

In 2016, she will be semi-retiring from her full-time practice at Academic Futures, Inc. She will no longer be offering four-year packages for her students. She is shifting her focus in her practice to career counseling with high school students and young adults, as well as hourly assistance for college counseling assistance.

Her sense for coaching and motivating youth, which allows them time to view their inner world and strengths in order to set goals and take ownership of their life direction, is her passion. She is dedicated to remaining innovative in order to reach students in a manner that lends respect and awe for who they can become.

Thank you, Leigh Anne, for all of the help throughout the junior and senior year leading up to and applying to colleges. Having your assistance allowed our daughter to take control of this next step in her life a little more independently and we are thrilled with the results!  We are confident that she will do well and are glad that you were there to support her through the process.

Parent of Centennial High School Senior, Class of 2016

I would highly recommend Leigh Anne Spraetz and Academic Futures. She was so helpful to my little sister in recommending colleges based on my little sister’s interest, skills, what she’s looking for, test scores, etc. She also helped us out a lot with the college essays, giving us guidance and tips for how to write the best essay possible. As well, she reviewed all essays before we submitted. She definitely put us on the right path when it initially seemed all very overwhelming. I will be recommending Academic Futures to everyone I come in contact with.
